Executive Summary
Photorealistic 3D visualization results from the interplay of the model, materials, lighting, and camera. An image can look realistic yet still differ from the actual product. That’s why references and approvals are just as much a part of the process as the visual design itself. This guide explains the steps involved and how you can evaluate the final result.

In a furniture image, a small detail often matters: the sheen of a lacquered edge, the scale of a fabric texture or the shadow beneath a cushion. Photorealism makes these qualities visible. The story an image tells is a separate consideration. Through visual storytelling, the space, lighting and perspective are chosen to suit the brand.
What is a photorealistic 3D visualization?
Photorealistic 3D visualization refers to computer-generated images that are intended to look like photographs. It is based on a three-dimensional scene featuring models, materials, lighting, and a virtual camera. During the rendering process, the software uses these elements to generate an image or the individual frames of an animation.
"Photorealistic" primarily means that the appearance is believable. It must also be verified whether the dimensions, color, and finish match the actual product. A convincing shadow cannot compensate for incorrect proportions.
This technique is used, among other things, for product images, architectural designs, and advertising campaigns. When it comes to furniture and materials, it combines the depiction of individual details with a staged interior scene.

Our photorealistic 3D rendering services
If you want to commission 3D visualizations, the work begins with the product and the purpose of the images. At Danthree Studio, we combine an understanding of form, materials and craftsmanship with a visual language that suits your brand.
Photorealistic 3D visualization by Danthree Studio
Depending on the project, we coordinate the following components:
Concept and design of brand spaces
We develop conceptual plans for the design of brand spaces. Material combinations, furnishings, lighting, and perspectives determine how the product is displayed in the space. These design decisions precede the final visualization.
3D modeling for photorealistic images
We create 3D models of furniture and products using suitable existing data or based on drawings, measurements, and photos.
CAD data is helpful, but it isn’t always available. When modeling based on images, we’ll need to clarify any hidden details and unclear measurements with you. The subsequent material and lighting design is based on this verified model.

Materials & Textures
Wood, metal, fabric and leather require different surface properties. We compare texture, color and sheen with the available references and can digitize additional materials and textures. Normal maps affect how fine surface details respond to light without changing the model’s silhouette. Our seamless texture checker helps you inspect visible repetitions and seams. It does not assess every aspect of material quality.
3D Visualization
Product images or interior scenes are created from the models and digitized surfaces. A single image is not interactive. To create rotatable views or virtual tours, the appropriate data and technical integration must be prepared separately.
For an initial discussion, bring product references, a shot list and the channels where the images will be used. These help establish the models, scenes and output formats required.

How much does a photorealistic 3D visualization cost?
The work involved depends on the source data, product geometry, materials and planned images. Variants, resolution and approval stages also need to be planned.
An isolated product image and a furnished interior scene require different production steps. Existing models can support further images, but they must match the current product specifications. Danthree Studio’s CGI projects show different types and scales of image production.
To prepare a specific proposal, we clarify the planned images, source data, materials and output formats. You can organize these details with the CGI project planner. It helps you prepare an inquiry and does not replace an agreed proposal.

How to create a photorealistic 3D rendering
The exact process depends on the project. These six steps illustrate the decisions that must be made before the final image is output:
1. Concept Development: We determine what the image should depict, who it is intended for, and where it will be used. Image references, spatial concepts, perspectives, and output formats form the foundation. A product image and an interactive application are planned differently.
2. Modeling: The 3D mesh model is created using suitable CAD data or based on drawings, measurements, and photos. Proportions, edges, and design details are checked against the reference materials before the material and lighting affect how the model is perceived.
3. Materials and Textures: Surfaces are assigned properties such as color, roughness, and reflectivity. Shaders describe how they react to light. Physically based material models such as OpenPBR support this structure. The result must still be compared with material references.
4. Lighting: The shape, direction and intensity of light determine how contours and surfaces appear. Color and sheen should be assessed under agreed conditions. Atmospheric campaign lighting serves a different purpose from a neutral view used to review a material.
5. Rendering: The software calculates a two-dimensional image from the prepared scene. In a 3D animation, many individual frames are calculated to create the sequence over time. Rendering is neither the modeling process itself nor automatically an animation.
6. Post-processing and review:
In compositing, image elements are combined and the overall visual effect is refined. Appropriate AI workflows can add backgrounds and variations. Throughout this process, the product’s shape, material details, and connections continue to be checked against the reference images. A generated addition does not constitute proof of product accuracy.
The following hybrid video examples combine a room scene with a moving person and show the transition between a wireframe rendering and a fully rendered image. The wireframe reveals the model's structure. However, it is not possible to determine from this alone whether the depicted furniture matches the original.
What is the best 3D software for photorealistic visualizations?
Different programs support modeling, material creation, animation and rendering. A photorealistic model is not automatically a digital twin connected to product or operational data. The following selection shows different areas of focus:
| Software |
Features & Applications |
| Unreal Engine |
Real-time rendering and interactive 3D scenes, such as for design meetings or product presentations. |
| Cinema 4D |
Modeling, animation, and rendering, including for motion design and product images. |
| Autodesk Maya / 3ds Max |
Modeling, animation, and visualization. Maya offers tools specifically for character animation, while 3ds Max is used, among other things, for modeling and design visualization. |
| Blender |
Free, open-source software for modeling, animation, rendering, and compositing. |
Factors to consider when making a selection include data formats, desired output, existing workflows, and the team’s experience. No program can automatically turn incomplete product data into a reliable representation on its own.
What industries can benefit from photorealistic 3D renderings?
Photorealistic 3D images are used in various industries. The following examples describe general applications of this technology, ranging from product communication to architecture.
Data requirements and verification procedures vary depending on the task:
1. 3D Models For Real Estate
Visualizations can show what planned apartments and interior spaces are expected to look like. Individual perspectives and virtual tours are different types of visual representations. Both should make it clear what features are included and what stage of planning is being depicted.
2. 3D Architectural Visualization
Architects and designers use 3D models to view designs from different perspectives and discuss materials in a spatial context. However, a visualization does not replace a technical review or a review of building codes.
3. Photorealistic Representation For Product Development
3D product visualizations make designs and variants easier to discuss in meetings. They can support decisions about form and visible details. Strength, manufacturability and function need to be tested using suitable methods.

4. 3D Visualization For Product Marketing
For existing products, isolated views, close-ups and interior scenes can form a consistent image series. The choice depends on what the audience needs to understand and how the images fit the brand’s communication.
In addition, 360-degree product views can provide multiple perspectives. In a kitchen visualization, for example, cabinet fronts, countertops, and interior design can be displayed together. Product variants and technical specifications are finalized before production begins.
5. CGI Visualization For Film And Animation
In film, animation, and video games, CGI is used to create environments and characters, among other things. Movement, editing, and integration into live-action footage place additional demands on the production process.
AI can support individual production steps. For product animation, shapes, details and movement still need to be checked against the references.

6. 3D Product Visualization In E-Commerce
In 3D product images for e-commerce, variants, materials, and relevant details should be clearly recognizable. Buyers can’t touch the product there. Our bathroom visualization shows how bathroom products can be presented both in detail and in a spatial context.
