Danthree Studio Meets RUF | Betten. A Long-Established Company Meets CGI (3D)
The bed manufacturer wanted to develop its product presentation and found Danthree Studio, a partner specializing in the furniture industry.
We know what matters most to furniture manufacturers when it comes to creating visual content: seamless collaboration, quick turnaround, and photorealistic CGI (3D) visualizations.
This is how we created computer-generated imagery for RUF | Betten. The SOLUNA sleeper sofa was the first product we visualized for the manufacturer using CGI. We placed it in a range of bedroom visualizations and living room designs.
The scenes were created digitally. This allowed us to coordinate the product, materials, furnishings, and lighting without building a physical photo set for every image variation.
The benefits of photorealistic 3D rendering here lie primarily in reusability: an approved model can be shown from additional angles and combined with different fabrics or room designs. This makes it easier to maintain a consistent visual style across a website and catalog.

What was the CGI (3D) task?
For the launch of SOLUNA, bed manufacturer RUF | Betten needed high-quality visual content that clearly showed the sleeper sofa and how it works.
The product images were intended for the website as well as printed materials such as flyers and catalogs. The product needed to be shown in different colors, settings, and interior arrangements.
For RUF | Betten, we created photorealistic 3D models, lifestyle renderings, CGI packshots / cutout images, and a 3D animated video showing how the sleeper sofa works. We also digitized the fabrics and textiles and rendered them in photorealistic detail.
What are CGI (3D) visualizations used for?
RUF | Betten uses photorealistic renderings based on a 3D model in both online and offline media. The images provide detailed product views on the website and are also used in print. The renderings can therefore serve multiple purposes.
What are the benefits of 3D visualization in this project?
RUF | Betten used CGI visual content creation to show product variations in different settings. Instead of rebuilding every shot, a digital scene lets you adjust the upholstery, camera, or furnishings, for example.
For a convincing result, geometry, fabric texture, and lighting need to work together. A roughness map controls how sharp or broad reflections appear on a surface. A metalness map distinguishes metallic from nonmetallic areas; ordinary upholstery fabric is nonmetallic. These two maps alone do not make a complete material. A well-prepared 3D scene can reduce the work needed for additional images. Actual production time and cost depend on factors such as modeling, material data, and review rounds.
