Where do furniture companies get their 3D models for the interior planners such as pCon.planner, SketchUp, and furnplan?
As a specialized CGI agency for the furniture, home and living industry, we create 3D models which you can export and use in pCon.planner, SketchUp, or furnplan.
What is a 3D furniture planner?
Imagine you could completely rearrange your living room without moving a single piece of furniture. This is exactly what interior design and room planners do: you place virtual furniture, change wall colors, lighting moods and perspectives - all in 3D to create a realistic impression. From beginner tools to professional software, the range is wide; some solutions run in the browser, others as a desktop suite. For furniture, home & living brands, 3D planners like these are more than just a gimmick: they bring products interactively to the customer and shorten the path from idea to purchase.
If you want to take a deeper look into our production side: We show how we model 3D models professionally - including a clean PBR setup and optimization for Planner workflows.
Have 3D models created for your furniture company
Do you need reliable 3D models for SketchUp Warehouse, pCon.planner or furnplan - including the right level of detail? You've come to the right place. The Danthree Studio team creates customized 3D models for furniture and interior brands that can be seamlessly integrated into common room planners. On request, we can handle the complete visualization - from living room and kitchen renderings to office renderings - and also deliver product CGIs for e-commerce and campaigns.

What is SketchUp Warehouse?
SketchUp 3D Warehouse is the official, searchable online library for 3D models. Manufacturers and the community share furniture, components and entire collections there - ideal for quickly populating plans or providing your own correctly prepared models as a brand. Official entry: 3D Warehouse - SketchUp.
Good to know: SketchUp offers a web version and subscription plans for professional workflows (desktop, extensions, IFC/DWG compatibility). Details and current plan overview can be found at SketchUp - Plans & Prices. (We link here only once; conditions may change).
Benefits Of SketchUp Warehouse:
- User-friendly filters for the search results
- Free 3D models for furniture to download
- Very detailed models
- Many features in the Pro version
- Versatile
Cons Of SketchUp Warehouse:

Create high-quality, photorealistic models - with AutoCAD?
CAD data from AutoCAD & Co. is structurally precise - but often too technical for sales, planning and end customers. We translate this design data into photorealistic mesh models: with physically correct PBR materials, real dimensional chains, correct unit scaling and sensible Texel density. Autodesk offers free viewers (DWG/DXF, e.g. in the browser) for sharing/checking: Autodesk Viewer.
The result: models that laypeople understand, planners use efficiently - and that look exactly as they do in real life. For high-end renderings, we also supply the setup from our 3D render studio.
Low Poly Models vs. High Poly Models: When to use which one
A 3D model (digital twin) is created from a mesh of polygons (triangles/quads). Low-poly means few polygons (fast, ideal for real-time/viewer/AR), high-poly means many polygons (perfect for macro close-ups, print, hero renderings). In Planner workflows, we rely on optimized low-poly assets and simulate subtleties using normal, roughness and displacement maps. For AR/VR or web viewers, we recommend glTF/GLB as a high-performance runtime format - backgrounds: glTF - our glossary.
Important: Quality ≠ polygon count only. Decisive are clean UVs mapsconsistent scales, PBR coherence and LOD levels. On request, we can add AI-supported retopo/UV aids and upscaling (e.g. for texture sharpening), but retain control over silhouettes and material fidelity.
If you want to understand the topic in principle: 3D mesh models explained.
Why 3D models are used for furniture planners
3D models offer furniture companies the following benefits:
- Realistic Presentation: As a furniture brand, you can use CGI Visualizations to display your products true to life and present them in a realistic environment. Customers can therefore imagine what a piece of furniture would look like in a real room (with Augmented Reality Visualizations they can even view it in their own home), which ultimately has a positive effect on sales figures.
- Customization and configuration: 3D models allow customers to customize and configure products to try out different options and styles. 3D models for SketchUp, furnplan, pCon.planner, etc. are also good if customers want to configure the furniture pieces before buying them or if they want to furnish an entire room using a shop-the-look visualization.
- Worldwide access: A CAD furniture tool can be used worldwide with 3D models and a 3D product configurator. This makes it possible to adapt products to the specific needs and preferences of different markets, including prices and texts in the respective national language.
- Efficient collaboration: 3D models can also be used to strengthen collaboration between sales partners, customers, and internal teams. The product can be changed directly in the model so that everyone involved is always up to date.
- Lower return rate: A realistic product presentation can also reduce the return rate, as customers already have a realistic expectation of the product before making a purchase.
- Innovative Presentation: Using 3D models shows that your furniture company is innovative and uses modern technologies to present products. This can help to strengthen the brand image.
In summary, virtual furniture planners provide an interactive and visually appealing way to showcase, customize, and sell furniture products, while increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales process.

Creating 3D Models for Furniture Companies: Our Approach
In the digital age, 3D models are no longer a "nice-to-have" but a must. We deliver customized data for room planners, e-commerce and marketing. That's what we need from you:
- Technical drawings (simple sketches also help).
- Product photos from multiple angles for material/color fidelity.
- Dimensions (exact, incl. variants/modules).
If information is missing, we compensate for it in consultation with you and document assumptions. We show you how we work in our process insights and Services for furniture & interior brands.
AI in the pipeline: We use AI for support - for example for material suggestions, UV cues or automatic LOD generation - but the final decision is always made by human quality control (brand look, haptic impression, CI fidelity).
Import and Export of Files
No need to worry about compatibility - we deliver and take care of, among other things:
.3ds, .dwg, .dxf, .skp, .dae, .fbx, .obj, .stl.
For checking/sharing classic CAD formats, for example, the 3D Viewer (DWG/DXF and others). For high-performance web use, we prefer to use GLB/glTF (see our glTF glossary).

Conclusion
For furniture companies, interior designers, and the entire home & living industry, websites such as SketchUp Warehouse and the pCon suite offer great opportunities to visualize interiors and furniture.
However, your 3D models need to be carefully created if you want to use them on these platforms. At Danthree Studio, we create photorealistic 3D clipping renderings for furniture in low poly and high poly and can export them in compatible file formats so you can easily import them into your virtual furniture planner.
