Sensually luxurious or simple and relaxed: Virtual bathroom design for the bathroom brand FOR
How do you make a space come alive for people when they can’t actually enter it? Surfaces and textures, the warmth of the light, the play of shadows as you move through the bathroom—all of these factors determine how a space is perceived. The feeling of calm and relaxation stems only partly from colors and lighting; temperature, scents, and humidity are far more important. Our CGI artists were able to capture these space-defining characteristics for Richter + Frenzel’s new FOR product line in 3D product videos and images featuring the new brand’s bathroom furniture.
Two Designs, One Feeling – FOR Odivis & Leano: Modular Spaces for Well-Being
The two product lines, FOR Odivis and FOR Leano, present the bathroom as a personal sanctuary, a place of comfort and relaxation. The designs are, on the one hand, sensual and warm (the Odivis bathroom line) and, on the other, cool, relaxed, and understated (the Leano bathroom line). All individual pieces of furniture, fixtures, sinks, showers, and tubs can be combined with one another in any way you like. However, they also adapt to existing living and design concepts, meaning they can be used alongside products from other series. Richter+Frenzel places great importance on this, as it allows for the creation of truly individual spaces based on sustainable design.
Brand Identity from the Ground Up – CGI, Showroom, and Visual Identity for FOR
The challenge was to coherently present this very concept—simple furniture that blends organically into any existing space—as 3D product images within the manufacturer’s brand communication. CGI in furniture marketing isn’t exactly new anymore; after all, our core business is the home & living sector. We had the privilege of supporting the manufacturer from the very beginning in creating the new brand. Product images were created by our CGI artists, developed into 3D visualizations, and further processed into product videos. We were also entrusted with designing the digital showroom. All 3D visualizations for the trade show and showroom were created by us—which is quite a special achievement for Danthree Studio on this scale. You can see just how striking the differences are between the raw state and the final rendering in our before-and-after image comparison.
3D product visuals for the sanitary industry are a challenge
In the bathroom sector, brand communication can often be a bit of a challenge. On the one hand, absolute hygiene must be emphasized; on the other hand, the pleasant, relaxing, and personalized aspects of the spaces need to be highlighted. Materials must have smooth, easy-to-clean surfaces—but such a personal wellness oasis shouldn’t come across as cold either. End customers should be able to engage with each piece of furniture on a sensory level and understand its functionality at a glance. How do you convey this in a digital bathroom presentation without getting too technical? Richter + Frenzel stands for innovative bathroom design, and the virtual product presentation created by our artists was designed to communicate exactly that.
Materiality Meets Ambience – How CGI Transforms the Bathroom into a Place of Well-Being
Through collaboration with skilled craftsmen who have an in-depth understanding of the properties of each material, we were ultimately able to create compelling CGI imagery for both furniture manufacturers and bathroom fixture manufacturers. Smooth surfaces gleam and reflect the light, and the cool feel of a glass pane comes to life through the subtle reflection of the interior space within it. Nevertheless, the product images radiate a pleasant warmth, generated by the special lighting and the soft play of shadows, which at times appear deeper and darker, and at other times lighter and more superficial. The 3D bathroom design has a calm feel; there are no echoes here, no loud noises. Despite the smooth, easy-to-clean surfaces, the spaces exude tranquility. Frosted surfaces, rooms with multiple nooks and crannies, and the use of select textiles contribute to this sense of tranquility. With FOR as their bathroom brand, Munich-based Richter + Frenzel (Germany) create comfortable spaces for personal hygiene that people enjoy using—a positioning that is also highlighted in this Archiproducts article as a new premium brand in the bathroom sector. Every 3D visualization, whether animated or static, conveys this sense of tranquility.
The trade press has also been closely following the launch of FOR— moebelmarkt.de reported on the launch of the bathroom brand by Richter + Frenzel and analyzed its strategic positioning in the German bathroom fixtures market.
