Executive Summary
Midjourney is currently the most powerful AI image-generation tool for creative brainstorming and concept development. However, for premium brands (furniture & tech), the tool is not suitable for final product visualization, as it "hallucinates" details and offers no copyright protection. The professional solution for 2026: A specialized 3D visualization studio that builds 100% physically accurate CGI models and uses Midjourney solely in the background as a scalable hybrid workflow for lighting and set ideas.

AI Midjourney is a text-to-image tool that is currently shaking up the creative industry. Creativity will be an unnecessary quality in future, artists will no longer be needed - according to the lurid reports. But is that really the case? What can AI Midjourney do, especially with regard to CGI, and what can't the tool do?
What Is Midjourney AI?
First of all, Midjourney is an independent research institute. This institute has created an artificial intelligence that can create images from text descriptions. So, you can imagine the program similarly to DALL-E from Open AI or Stable Diffusion, another open-source project.
The Midjourney team is led by David Holz, the co-founder of Leap Motion. Users are already creating "works of art" with Midjourney, using Discord Bot commands.
Currently, Midjourney is accessible via a Discord bot on the official Midjourney Discord, or you can register directly on the AI Midjourney website to use the web version.
To create images, users use the same commands as with other tools that create images via artificial intelligence. This is basically the /imagine command, to which the bot responds with an image. A web interface is also already available (register on the AI Midjourney page).
That was the summary - but how exactly does Midjourney work? We've put together a step-by-step explanation to help you understand the tool even better!
AI Midjourney 3D Visualization
Although tools like Midjourney produce stunning initial concepts and mood boards, they reach their limits when it comes to the final product staging. Brands cannot afford to have seam allowances or fabric textures distorted by AI. For the final, precise product staging, premium brands therefore continue to rely on the craftsmanship and precision of a specialized 3D visualization studiothat translates these AI concepts into 100% physically accurate, brand-safe CGI models.
How Does Midjourney Work?: Tutorial
Before you create AI images with AI Midjourney, you must register directly on the AI Midjourney website to use the web version. Alternatively, you can also download Discord for Mac or PC.
Discord looks a bit like a chat tool: there are chat rooms that you can enter to communicate with others. On the far left, various channels are displayed, including Midjourney. This is the channel you are looking for. To use the channel, you have to click "Join the Beta" on midjourney.com.
Because Discord also works in a web browser, the program may load directly there. But there is also a desktop interface. In principle, both work the same, it's simply a matter of taste what you prefer.
Good to know: Midjourney reserves the right to make the AI images created from your prompts (so actually your images) available to other users for remixes.
If you want to prevent this, you can set everything to "private" by using Stealth Mode in the Pro or Mega Plan of Midjourney, or by creating your own Discord server.
Step 1: Sign up for AI Midjourney
In the past, all image generation was done in a cumbersome way through the chat program "Discord." Today, professionals and agencies use the official Midjourney web interface. Here, you can log in directly and work through a clean, visual user interface. The days of having to type commands in public “newcomer channels” and losing your images in the chat history are over. Today, Discord is mostly used only for API integrations or by hobbyists. For professional workflows, the web interface is essential.

Step 2: Create Text Prompts
The rest is easy: In the chat field below, you tell the tool what you want to have as an AI image. Short descriptions work best. It takes some getting used to at first, and the chat looks a little archaic, especially for Mac users who are used to design.
Text Prompts are actually a science in themselves. How exactly the instructions are professionally created so that the result exactly meets your expectations can be learned elsewhere - it would go beyond the scope of this article. But trying it out is also a good way to acquire it.
It's important to mention that you enter /imagine in the text field. After that, a field will open and you can start with your image description.

Themost important midjourney commands & parameters (V7)
To use Midjourney effectively in a B2B context for concept phases and mood boards, simple text descriptions are not enough. In 2026, professionals control a brand’s look and feel using precise parameters. While older versions (such as V6) still struggled with significant inconsistencies, today’s prompts enable much more precise brand management. Here are the most important parameters for the professional workflow:
| Parameters |
Function & B2B Applications (2026) |
| --sref [URL] |
Style Reference: The most important command for corporate identity. Forces the AI to precisely replicate the visual style (colors, mood, rendering style) of a linked reference image. Prevents generic AI-generated looks. |
| --cref [URL] |
Character Reference: Ensures consistency in the appearance of people or characters across a series of images. Ideal for storyboards or concept presentations where the model’s face must remain consistent. |
| --no [word] |
Negative Prompting: Rigorously excludes unwanted elements. Premium brands use terms such as --no plastic, messy, cheap, distortion to ensure the output remains clean and high-quality. |
| --ar [W:H] |
Aspect Ratio: Controls the aspect ratio. --ar 16:9 for hero banners on websites, --ar 9:16 for social media stories. The aspect ratio significantly influences the AI's image cropping. |
| --q [0.25–2] |
Quality / GPU Time: Controls how much processing time the AI spends on fine details. --q 2 produces finer textures but increases render time. This setting does not affect the resolution, but rather the level of detail. |
Step 3: Organization in the Web Interface
In the modern Midjourney web interface, you can easily organize your prompts and generated images into custom folders and smart folders. You no longer need to set up private chat servers on Discord like you used to. Use the built-in filter and search functions to neatly and securely organize your mood boards and concept ideas for client presentations.

New Features in Midjourney v7 (2026 Update) & Workflows
The Current Standard (2026): Midjourney V7 & V7.1 Since the introduction of V7 in mid-2025, the tool has evolved significantly. V7 and subsequent updates have, above all, brought about much more coherent prompt processing. Features such as Character Reference (--cref) and Style Reference (--sref) are absolute game-changers in 2026 for ensuring consistency in image series. Nevertheless, when it comes to precise, millimeter-level work and technical clearances for real products, even V7 cannot match a traditional 3D workflow.
Pros and Cons of AI Midjourney
So, let's start by stating: With AI Midjourney, you can have digital images created relatively quickly from a textual instruction. If you really want to use the images and not just do it for fun, it costs money. That's not really a disadvantage.
Another question concerns the ownership. The images you create with Midjourney do not belong to you. You may use them (with restrictions), including commercially. But they may also be used by other users for remixes.
Midjourney exhibits the most successful creations, including the text prompts, on its own website. It's an impressive gallery - but in terms of usage and ownership rights, is that really what you want for your CGI?
The legal B2B pitfall with Midjourney: While Midjourney does allow commercial use of the images under certain subscription plans, this does not mean you own the copyright to them. Since the images are generated by a machine, they are often considered public domain under current case law (e.g., USCO). Your competitors could take your AI-generated campaign image and use it exactly as is for themselves, without you being able to issue a cease-and-desist notice. This is precisely why premium brands rely on traditional CGI: here, the copyright and usage rights are 100% securely held by you and the agency.
This is perhaps the biggest disadvantage of the open community and the reason why individual CGI visualizations are often the better solution for companies (especially in product marketing).
The solution: The Danthree hybrid workflow (CGI + AI)
Many brands are faced with a dilemma: Midjourney is fast, but uncontrollable and legally difficult. Classic CGI is safe, but more complex. We have built the bridge:
Instead of relying on text-only prompts (which create hallucinations), we use your Digital Twin (3D model) as an untouchable foundation. We apply our specialized AI workflows (ControlNet & LoRA) to it. The result? You get the speed and creativity of tools like Midjourney, but your product remains 100% geometrically correct, brand compliant and legally secure.
Exclusive for Premium Brands
Midjourney provides ideas. We provide digital reality.
Don’t let an AI generate your expensive product designs out of thin air. Danthree Studio uses Midjourney and similar tools for brainstorming, but builds your products with true master-carpenter precision in 100% physically accurate CGI. The result: breathtaking Digital Twins with no legal risks.

And the conclusion? Is this the end of creativity?
If AI can now create artworks with Prompt Engineers, creating absolutely impressive, print-ready images within 60 seconds and with the effort of just a few clicks - is this the end of art as we know it?
One could say, yes, this is the end. Because professional graphic designers who spend weeks working on cover designs, layouts and more, will of course not be able to keep up. At least not when it comes to achieving an acceptable result with minimal time and cost.
If you want to achieve excellent results with Midjourney and similar tools, it looks different again. Because at least in the next few years, people will still be in the lead there. Implementing instructions as precisely as possible, hitting exactly the right style, delving deeply into topics and creating unique works - that is and remains human.
Above all, the last point is important here: What an AI produces is reproducible, down to the smallest detail. And that doesn't even take effort, but basically only needs exactly the same text prompt.
The technology behind tools like Midjourney or Stable Diffusion is becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. Accordingly, the tools and thus the results are getting better and better. It is foreseeable that at some point, actually not just usable, but good and very good images can be created with little effort.
But in our opinion, that is still far from the end of creativity. Because an AI can only be as "creative" as the program and code behind it. So creativity will continue to exist. It will just look different.
It already takes a lot of skill and creativity to find exactly the right words that let AI Midjourney create exactly the CGI you want. You are the creative person who creates the image - Midjourney merely converts it into pixels.
Also, an important point to mention: The created AI images cannot be easily modified. So if you want to change something in the picture, this is not yet possible.
This is especially true in the 3D world: Even if AI tools like Midjourney provide exciting impulses – real brand aesthetics, emotional storytelling, and technical precision are created in professional 3D workflows.
