3D product presentation for high-quality outdoor carpets by Kvadrat
There are many ways to make rugs. The global textile company Kvadrat from Denmark has chosen to use traditional craftsmanship techniques to produce high-quality outdoor rugs in combination with modern functional fibers.
The designs come from the Danish textile and color designer Margrethe Odgaard - the CGI product visuals and 3D product videos for textile manufacturer Kvadrat come from 3D Studio Danthree Studio.
Realistically reproducing the complex braided patterns of the handmade rugs made of four-color polypropylene rope without getting lost in technical details - that was a task that our CGI / 3D artists gladly took on.
Using carpets outdoors places special demands on them, as they have to be weather-resistant and, above all, water-resistant, must not lose their color under UV radiation and must feel good despite the robust material. The company is known for its focus on sustainability in textile design.
High-end 3D visualization: How Danthree Studio brought Kvadrat's brand spaces to life
Kvadrat had the outdoor rugs designed by the Danish textile and color designer Margrethe Odgaard.
Kvadrat sees the target audience for these carpets as being in the high-end segment, specifically professional designers, hotels, and resorts. The realistic depiction of weave patterns and material details was therefore extremely important to us, as this target audience is well-equipped to evaluate realistic CGI renderings of textile materials.
Danthree Studios not only worked on recreating surfaces and textures, but also used 3D scans to create photorealistic renderings of designer rugs and furniture by select designers for the brand showrooms.
By displaying the carpets from Kvadrat in various outdoor environments, our artists were able to play with light and shadow, which makes the virtual product presentation for textiles appear even more realistic. However, they were not entirely free in the design: the color calibration took place in coordination with Kvadrat; branding is the key word here.
High-quality 3D visuals for carpets - 3D marketing for premium brands
The virtual product presentation in the form of brand spaces and animations can be used by the manufacturer Kvadrat in a variety of ways. Website, social media, trade fair stand or print - everything is possible, because the 3D visualization for outdoor carpets is infinitely scalable and can be adapted with little effort for every conceivable analog and digital use.
This gives the carpet manufacturer Kvadrat full flexibility in product communication. Since the often time-consuming and costly photo shoot is no longer necessary, we can definitely consider CGI product visuals for carpet manufacturers as a sustainable solution. The complex process is worth it, because at the end of our journey there are always high-quality visuals for e-commerce and branding.
Realistic CGI material representation for textiles - especially in the outdoor area the better choice
Often, it's tough to really show off what a product is like in photos. Things like how a surface feels, the temperature of the material, or how dense it is are all about touch, and customers can only get a sense of them indirectly. But, with super realistic renderings for designer rugs, our CGI artists can make those qualities pop! By playing with light and shadow and carefully modeling the materials, we can really bring those features to life.
Let's make it clearer with an example: Natural light, as seen through a camera lens and tweaked using all the tricks of the trade (product photography), will never give you the crazy control over lighting that you get with 3D visualization for outdoor rugs.
Why should a virtual product presentation for textiles rely "only" on real-world settings when our artists can create the perfect settings for us in the form of photorealistic renderings? 3D marketing for luxury brands goes far beyond the capabilities of conventional product presentation.
